Gm — the G minor guitar chord
G minor almost never shows up as an open chord. It’s usually played as a barre, so this two finger voicing is a gift for early hands, and the sound is dark and hollow. The top two strings stay silent: strum from the low E and stop short, or you’ll drag in notes that don’t belong.
How to play it
- Index finger on the A string (5th), 1st fret.
- Ring finger on the low E string (6th), 3rd fret.
- Let the open D string (4th) and G string (3rd) ring.
- Don't strum the B string (2nd) and high E string (1st). They stay silent in this shape.
