Backups and sync

Your practice history lives on your device. Strumhold works fully offline with no account, which also means the app can’t recover your history for you if the device is lost or its browser data is wiped. That’s what backups are for, and there are two kinds.

Export and import, by hand

Settings has a Data section with two buttons:

This is free, needs no account, and is also how you move your history to a new device by hand. An export file stays importable in future versions of the app.

Sync, automatic

Sync is the subscription feature: sign in with Google and the app backs your history up as you practice and merges it across every device you’re signed in on. Practice on your phone in the morning and your laptop at night, and both see the whole story.

The chip on Home shows where you stand: how much is backed up, and when this device last heard from the server. Tapping it opens the full status, with a Sync now button if you don’t want to wait.

Sync merges the same way import does: it only ever adds. It never rewrites a score, and a device that has been offline for weeks simply catches up the next time it connects.

If your subscription ends

Everything stays on your device. You keep practicing, your history and progress are untouched, and Export keeps working. Syncing across devices is the only thing that stops. The billing topic covers the details.
