Getting started
Strumhold trains the hard part of early guitar: changing chords and running scales cleanly, in time. You practice against a metronome while the app listens through your mic and scores each strum, so a chart never claims more than the app actually heard you play.
Home is today’s practice
Each day Home deals you a short practice set: whatever is due for review, whatever you just unlocked, and whatever still sounds rough, chords and scales together in one queue with the most urgent item on top. The set stays the same size all day, so clearing it means you are done. If you feel like playing more after that, Free play is always open.
Drills listen to you
A drill is one timed run at a tempo you pick: two chords to change between, or one scale to run, with the metronome keeping time. You play into your device’s mic and the app grades each beat as it lands.
Before your first drill the app spends about 15 seconds on calibration, listening to you strum and pluck so it can tell your guitar from the room. If scoring ever seems off, the calibration and mic topic in Help is the place to look.
Progress moves on evidence
New chords and scales unlock as you drill the ones before them, and review comes back on a schedule. A break never lowers a score. An item can go stale and come due sooner, but what the app measured stands until it measures again. Only scored drills move the numbers; time spent in the app moves nothing.

Install the app
Strumhold runs in the browser, and it also installs as an app on your phone or computer so it keeps working offline. The installing topic in Help walks through it.
