Fm, the F minor guitar chord

F minor is the F♯m grip slid down one fret, right against the nut: the index barres all six strings at the 1st fret and two fingers hold the minor shape above. It is the darkest sounding barre in this program, at the hardest spot on the neck, which is why it comes last. The strings fight back hardest this close to the nut, so the barre needs more squeeze than F♯m did. The barre alone frets the G string, and that note is the first to die when the index arches. Strum slowly and listen for it.

How to play it

Index finger flattened across the low E string (6th), G string (3rd), B string (2nd) and high E string (1st), 1st fret.
Ring finger on the A string (5th), 3rd fret.
Pinky on the D string (4th), 3rd fret.
