F♯, the F♯ major guitar chord

F♯ is the F grip slid up one fret: the index barres all six strings at the 2nd fret while the other fingers hold the same shape above it. The barre gives a little more easily here than at F, because the strings loosen as you leave the nut. Songs in B lean on F♯ the way songs in C lean on G. The middle finger on the G string carries the note that makes this chord major, so pick that string and make sure it speaks.

Index finger flattened across the low E string (6th), B string (2nd) and high E string (1st), 2nd fret.
Middle finger on the G string (3rd), 3rd fret.
Ring finger on the A string (5th), 4th fret.
Pinky on the D string (4th), 4th fret.
